Why Homeschool

Why in the world did I retire from teaching public school and choose to homeschool instead? It didn’t happen overnight, believe me. Being Grateful

This year my word is “grateful”, so I’m focusing daily on looking for random acts of generosity that the kids and I can do throughout the day. Saying hello to strangers, holding open doors, helping people pick up things they drop, buying someone a cup of coffee or giving them a Starbucks gift card, bringing in my neighbor’s trash cans and watching friends’ kiddos are just a few of my favorite ways to give back. I have been given so much by God and this is just one of the life lessons I try to daily teach our kiddos. Some of my kiddos are honestly half empty kind of people and so I’m trying to show them how being gracious can actually help them be more grateful.

I get asked ALL the time by other wives and mamas…”Lisa, how do you do It all?” And I guess what they mean is, from the outside it may look like I do a lot. I homeschool four kiddos, I was president for our 80+ member Army wife Bible study, PWOC, last year, I run a business and I am an Army Chaplain's wife (a.k.a my husband is gone, a lot). My answer is always, “I don’t do it all” and “I know my strengths.” So here’s where I’d love to encourage you all!
